Careers
Current Openings at Carlson Dash
For fifteen years we’ve built a multi-state practice at the intersection of commercial litigation, banking and finance, Chapter 11 restructuring, and creditors’ rights. Our clients include privately held companies, Fortune 500s, regional and national lenders, commercial real estate firms, who come to us when a matter is complicated and the stakes are real, and they need a team that will think creatively and stay with it.
We’re small on purpose. That means our attorneys have real responsibility early: managing matters, leading client relationships, and shaping how the firm grows. It also means we invest in our people professionally, financially, and personally, because a firm this size runs on trust.
We work hard, we do good work, and we like each other. There’s room here for people who want their careers to be demanding and their lives to be their own.
If you’re a lawyer because you want to help people – starting with your colleagues and clients – we’d like to hear from you.
Commercial Litigation Attorney
About the job
Clients reach out to Carlson Dash when the stakes are real and the situation is complicated. They need a team that will outthink and outwork the other side. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is why the attorneys who show up, think like owners, and build loyalty thrive here.
We are growing and looking for team members who share that same approach to their work.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Commercial Litigation Attorney with 6+ years of experience with:
- Representing individuals, business entities, and major credit grantors in complex commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes, shareholder conflicts, business torts, and enforcement actions.
- Handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals in state and federal courts.
- Providing strategic pre-litigation counseling and risk assessment to minimize exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating litigation-related documents, including demand letters, settlement agreements, and consent judgments.
Expectations
In addition to the above experience, the successful candidate will:
- Have a command of litigation and a proven track-record of managing matters independently (complaint through resolution);
- Be comfortable in the courtroom, at the podium, in depositions, and across the negotiating table;
- Understand the interplay between clients, opposing counsel, and the courts – with demonstrated strategic thinking across all forums, including state court, federal district court, and appellate court;
- Possess excellent organizational and time management skills; and
- Hold an active bar license in Illinois (Wisconsin or multi-state a plus).
