I have extensive experience advising businesses of all types on complex transactional and business matters, with a focus on helping clients achieve organizational and operational efficiencies within the boundaries of the law. I also assist clients with estate planning, probate matters, and succession planning. In addition, I am a well-respected creditor’s rights and bankruptcy attorney. My practice also includes agricultural law, particularly as it relates to lending, farmer cooperatives, and financial opportunities like leasing cell towers, as well as municipal matters and open meetings issues. I have also represented insurance agencies in the sale and purchase of insurance agencies.
In the Profession
As a native of Wisconsin’s agricultural heartland, I bring unique insights into the dairy and agricultural business sectors and the evolving economies of those communities. I have advised clients on monetizing land through leasing opportunities, including cell towers, and other real estate ventures. I serve as general counsel for one of Wisconsin’s largest dairy cooperatives and played a key role in merging it with two others to create the third largest membership dairy cooperative in the United States.
While I enjoy working with small businesses to explore growth and financial opportunities and with individuals on estate and succession planning, I also maintain a strong background in creditor’s rights, bankruptcy, and litigation. I have been named to the Wisconsin Super Lawyers list (top 5% of Wisconsin attorneys) for 16 consecutive years and am Peer Review Rated by Martindale Hubbell. During law school, I served as an editor on the Wisconsin Law Review.
In the Community
I have served on the Milwaukee County Condemnation Commission, the City of Milwaukee Ethics Board, and as an election inspector for the City. I also regularly volunteer to teach first-time homebuyers, sharing knowledge to help them navigate the process successfully.
