Making A Difference Award – Gerald Schur, Welsh & Katz, Ltd. (retired)

After learning of the Midtown Educational Foundation in 2001 through Lawyers Lend-A-Hand, Gerald Schur became a volunteer tutor working with boys in the 4th to 6th grades. Jerry devotes two hours a week to tutoring his student in reading, and in the 10 years since he first began volunteering, he has worked with seven students, helping each improve grades and academic skills and earning Jerry the regard of the Midtown staff as one of its best tutors.

“MEF is fortunate to have found a friend in Jerry Schur, whose own life’s work and genuine interest in giving back to youth in need is truly inspirational,” writes his nominator, Glenn Wilke, Executive Director of Midtown Educational Foundation.
