At age 84, Gene Niezgoda still reports to work every day at the Municipal Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County where he assists the presiding judge on judicial assignments, rotations, transfers, and administrative matters. During his long career, Mr. Niezgoda has worked with virtually every judge who has served in the municipal district since the 1950s. In that time, he has become a valued friend and mentor for those on the bench.
Judge Michael B. Hyman praised Niezgoda saying, “For decades, judges, especially those new to the bench, look to him as a resource and mentor. Hundreds and hundreds of judges have turned to Gene for guidance and direction which he dispenses with wise levity.”
