Sold-Out Crowd Expected at Luncheon to Honor Mentors

CHICAGO, IL. (September 16, 2011) – Legendary broadcaster Merri Dee will host the Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth My Hero Awards Luncheon in front of a capacity crowd on Thursday, September 22, 2011.  Admission is $50 per person and includes an 11:30 a.m. reception and the 12:00 p.m. luncheon at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse, 33 W. Kinzie St., Chicago.

This eighth annual event honors volunteers from the legal community who make a difference in the lives of others through mentoring.  In general, the awards go to lawyers or legal professionals that work with children, but in 2011, one of the award recipients, Gene Niezgoda, will be honored for his mentoring of new Cook County judges.

Luncheon chair, Tasneem Goodman, partner at Akina Corporation, noted, “Lawyers Lend-A-Hand is excited to be able to profile the good works of lawyers and others in helping to make a difference in the lives of children across Chicago.  I have experienced first-hand the powerful impact that mentoring relationships can have on young people, and as a mentor, I reaped the many benefits that mentors enjoy in serving the generations that follow them.”
